These deep gorges, on the northwest slope of Mont-Lozère, were dug by the Bramont stream, whose waters are partly underground. The slopes are occupied by wooded vegetation based on Scots pine and oak. Along the edge of the stream where the European Otter lives, there is a riparian forest with ash trees, poplars, willows and alders, characteristic of the edges of the water. The cliff areas allow the nesting of the Eurasian Eagle Owl, whose population in Lozère is estimated at between 20 and 30 pairs. The woodlands are conducive to the Circaète Jean-le-Blanc, for which Lozère has between 120 and 190 pairs. Source: National Museum of Natural History, Natura 2000 network. Discover this deep valley thanks to the hiking trail that goes up to La Fage.
