Already present on cave paintings (Lascaux or Niaux Caves), this horse is the last wild horse in the world, it has never been domesticated. The species has been saved from extinction and reintroduction plans are underway, such as the one initiated by the TAKH Association which contributes to the preservation of the species. The Association for Przewalski's Horse, TAKH, was created in 1990, with the aim of recreating a population of Przewalski's horses living in freedom before reintroducing them to Mongolia, the original territory of this species. In 1993 and 1994 the first eleven individuals arrived on the Causse Méjean. On this limestone plateau traditionally oriented towards sheep breeding, horses were able to breed and form a herd under natural conditions. In 2004 and 2005, 22 horses flew to Mongolia to find the steppes from which the species had disappeared. In July and August, the association welcomes you to the hamlet of Villaret, to present the project and the horses.
