The "Chestnut Trees of the Emperor" are so named because they were planted under Napoleon III by Russian prisoners captured during the Crimean War in 1855. The Rieucros (name of the stream) has deeply cut the limestone and reached the mica schist base favorable to the growth of chestnut trees. Markings : yellow.
