This circuit starting from Barjac will take you up a Causse. You will cross "valats" (more or less marked valleys) as well as the hamlets of La Roche and Le Cénaret. In Cénaret, you can climb to the Rocher de la Vierge which offers a very pretty panorama of the surroundings. You are in the heart of the Natura 2000 site. To see nearby: Cliffs of Barjac with the Causse du Chastel Viel, the Rocher de la Vierge and the Terres Bleues. Three sites near the path present the geology of the Causses,...
This circuit starting from Barjac will take you up a Causse. You will cross "valats" (more or less marked valleys) as well as the hamlets of La Roche and Le Cénaret. In Cénaret, you can climb to the Rocher de la Vierge which offers a very pretty panorama of the surroundings. You are in the heart of the Natura 2000 site. To see nearby: Cliffs of Barjac with the Causse du Chastel Viel, the Rocher de la Vierge and the Terres Bleues. Three sites near the path present the geology of the Causses, Jurassic fossils and dry grassland orchids. Markings : yellow. From the town square of Barjac, follow the D142 towards the south. 2. 100 m further on, take the road on the right going up to Cénaret. Follow it for about 400 m. 3. Take the first path on the left. It is sometimes not very visible. It crosses several more or less marked ravines including the valats of Canraban, Tras Castel and Balan and reaches the hamlet of La Roche. 4. In the hamlet, turn right. Continue to climb, passing two paths on the right. Reach the junction with the GR®670 Chemin Urbain V. 5. Take the GR®670 on the right and go around the Chastel Viel hill (996 m). Reach the village of Cénaret (Beautiful traditional houses). Possibility of climbing to the Rocher de la Vierge, at its summit (vertiginous ridge). 6. At the entrance to the village of Cénaret, follow the road on the left for about 150 m. 7. Take the path that descends to the right. Arrive under a high-voltage line. Separation from the GR®670. 8. Take the path on the right. Reach the D142 road and follow it to the right to reach the starting point.
